Can anyone tell me what the bulge on the exhaust pipe is behind the rear offside wheel is ? Is it a DPF if not where is a DPF located if it has one ? As i was told due to its 2.5 engine it should have one fitted
DPFs were introduced into the L200 range in late 2011 and are located up near the front under the drivers seat area of the exhaust
mine is a 2011 and doesn't have a DPF fitted anything from 2012 onwards will

That will be the CAT, as previously said DPFs didn't come in until late 2011.
If a truck has a DPF fitted it's just below the drivers seat

Thanks everyone , so it isn't a DPF some people are saying its the cat but wouldn't the cat be bolted in rather than a fixed part of the pipe ? I think the cat is midway down the truck as it has a slight hole in the outer case with some what appears to resemble loft insulation poking out - don't worry its headed for the garage this week
yes mate the cat is more center of truck bolted in 2 flanges and gaskets in each

classic trucks (up to 2006 ish) have the cat in the middle underneath
newshape trucks (2006 onwards) have the cat up near the manifold
what shape truck is yours ? if the rear doors are square then it's a classic , if they are curved then it's a newshape
As Nick says, there are new rules coming into play for diesel emissions that are going to catch many people out
many years ago it was very common practice to buy a decat pipe for a classic and weigh the original cat in for scrap
probably best not to do that with the current goings on with mot regulations

in that case you should have no DPF
on a K74 the cat is right in the centre of the exhaust half way down the truck (looks a bit like a silencer)
or if it's been removed there will be a 2 foot long straight pipe bolted in it's place
