Factory alarm

#1 by Simongrace0710 , Sat Apr 18, 2020 4:50 pm

Hi all, hoping someone could help me with my alarm. I have recently purchased a 65 plate L200 to use for work. Never owned a truck before and couldn’t believe the canopy or tailgate didn’t lock, anyway that’s a question for another day.
I’m hoping to get the alarm extended to the cover the load area as will have tools in there, is it possible? It doesn’t mention anything regarding the alarm in the manual so I’m unsure of what system it actually is or where it’s located. Any help appreciated 👍

I normally park up to the wall.. You'll need to splice in a door switch for each canopy door (up to 3) As to the lock, there's https://www.eagle4x4.com/product/mitsubishi-l200-series-5-power-lock-central-locking-tailgate-kit/ which will add the bed to your central locking.

usually if you lock the canopy manually it'll keep the tailgate closed thus both are locked
you can add a tailgate lock as Tek suggests, I did this to my classic many years ago, how I did it was here -----> How to :- fit a tailgate central locking mechanism
my canopy overlaps the tailgate keeping it secure

my roller shutter latches into the tailgate so when it's locked it keeps the tailgate from opening

neither of these are connected to the central locking so both are achieved manually
I don't normally lock mine as I have nothing in there to steal so am hoping to avoid someone breaking the lock ...... only to find there's nothing to nick

Also, have a look at armorgard and vanvault for internal bulletproof tool stowage. End of the day, a metal canopy is quite rare and chances are its a fibreglass one, so internal bolted tool boxes may be a better choice - and of course, helps restrain your tools from doing the slidey knocking thing as you drive/brake.
