Some people I have talked with have some problem with there relay boxes, dont know brand but they got stuck when winchin in and you can figure out whats happends when youre out of wire so as a friendly tip, put a main braker thats easy to accses from the outside of the truck ;)
The people I refering to all had wireless controlls but I figure that all things that can go bad will at some point.

Looking good matey, Did you use any solder when doing those Cables or did you just crimp them on? I'm looking at Soldering mine on then wrapping them up with Tape until i can get back to the shop and get them Crimped next week.

@Fielder, I know the Hellectrical engineers here don't like just soldering anything that takes a lot of current. They always use crimps (big ones) and rarely solder anything not on a board. Could be cost, could be safety, I never asked tbh just one of those things you notice.
Looks nice Lee.... Did you do a how-to?

Not sure, i have a big sticker on mine saying "spool wire rope onto drum in this direction" and the arrow pointing forward so i can only assume you spool from the top? (I could be being very stupid here, lets see what everyone else is doing)

Bugger, I don't have the means to crimp except a big pair of pliers. I may have to just tape them on for now and find someone with a vice / crimps i can borrow further down the line.

@123hotchef how did your makeshift crimping work out? Secure enough or does it really need a proper crimp job?

When I made mine I used a punch to crimp them and then filled them up with solder and put heat shrink on to make them look pretty.

That's what I was thinking. Use a screwdriver to punch in one side. Then use the flat bottom to push up the other. Tape it up Then heat wrap the lot and job done.

So the question on everybody with a winches lips today @123hotchef, How did your winch stand up to being Dunked at Kirkton? Any tips / experiences / lessons you have picked up or has the winch taken everything in it's stride?
