just made my new acumelator and overhauled the old one.
Truck is still overheating when pushed hard,
I am thinking the viscous fan is not doing the job it is supposed to be doing so I have just ordered some oil so i can give the viscous coupling a makeover

decorated under the bonnet with lots of oil and left a trail to follow home!
found the dip stick had been blown out when I arrived at work and found oil all over the car park.
I hope it is not something serious like how @Yoda trucks went

An old test for a compression leak was to take the oil filler cap off and cover the hole with your palm (idling when cold)- if a ring has gone you'll be able to feel the pressure changing. Actually this may have been for dodgy valves rather than rings though... can't remember.

Thought you were and reason i asked was very similar happened to me. Oil splattered everywhere, dipstick chucked out and excess crankcase pressure.
I figured worst and although it ran ok comp test showed lower than i expected. Then penny dropped with veg i had been using and gummed rings sprang to mind. Figured had bugger all to lose with doing a hard engine oil flush, so in went couple of pints af paraffin and it sat there with revs wound up to 2k for half hour.
Good long drain and fill up with decent 10/40 and all was good. Better comp test figures, no crankcase pressure and one relieved spud! Maybe similar has gone on with yours, worth a try.

It started when you put the catch can on and without a back feed to the engine, also you put the can low down. I don't think it's a cause but who knows with these trucks.
If it still starts well I can't see it being compression. A blocked breather is more likely.
A smoking exhaust would be a give away of compression failure and the usual HG visual tests.

it aint long had the BG clean done by @Alan G at KORC
and these only have the one breather @Major Malfunction
@spud what do you deem exessive CC pressure? how easy is it to run a compression test on these is it just pull a glow plug and screw the test nipple in the hole and go for it

Yup. Just take out glowplugs, fit comp test adapter and away you go. As for excessive crankcase pressure, i'd say blowing the dipstick out is pretty excessive.

If you look at the original system the breather to air intake is at the same level, my catch can is in a similar position.
You have located your almost in a siphon position by placing it low.
If the can is filling quick and clogging it in effect is blocked.
May or may not be the cause but worth looking at.

Loss of compression (rings) isn't a common on these trucks, I think/hope it's a simple fix for you.
