That's cool being that close. Well from my research you've got compatible parts. The other auto box was the smaller V4AW2 which came on the 12v engine. But if you've got the lexus box and the old Mitsi one, can't you put them next to each other?

Cool. Finally got some plasma cutter tips today. Been waiting for ages for em to come in stock. Will make cutting those fiddle underside bits a breeze. And cutting those strut tops and bits off.

Yea but I need another daily driver first. And I need to find a suitable diesel v8 to go in.

It may seem gay but it's also pretty cool as it allows you to v8 your truck. Suddenly makes it cooler.

@Yoda pic of the bell housing the top is the original v6 the bottom is the Lexus one. If you look at the bolt pattern where it bolts to the gearbox its nothing like and you must use the bell housing in any conversion. This is what I mean by 2 different v6 24v boxes

I think we might have got cross wired. Yes you do always have to use the Lexus bell housing. I never thought you could bolt the 1UZ direct to a Mitsi box. But the reason the Lexus bell housing can switch over to a Mitsi box is because Mitsi use the same box. Albeit different bell housing. As you can see in this advert:Werbung: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1994-MITSUBISH...10AAOSwgyxWWa7n
Put the Lexus bell housing on that and you're in business. You can see from the part numbers that it's the same Lexus box you have but that it came from a 3.5GDI Pajero. The 3.0 24v Pajero also had the same box. Evidently that was not the case for the 3.0 24v L200. Which in your case it seems has the smaller auto box which as you say is entirely different and incompatible with this conversion.

Now for you you're just using the Lexus box. No swapping parts. I'm using the Pajero box identical to that one I've linked to above, but swapping the bell housing over from the Lexus box. This is because I can then retain the transfer case without modding the back of the lexus box and I can use the Pajero tiptronic shift and gear levers I've bought.

This is why, had your V6 box been the same, you could in theory have retained your shift levers and centre consol. But as you have the smaller autobox your shift levers might not be compatible. Which as you say means you need to find a centre consol solution to fit around and tidy up the Lexus shift levers which I presume you'll use.

Hope that makes sense.

My original gearlevers would have run the box you bought. The Lexus and the hilux box are NOT the same as that box you have bought. The biggest and most obvious is the mitz box has the selector mechanism on the passenger side of gearbox and is controlled by a cable the Lexus and hilux is controlled by a solid bar on the drivers side of gearbox.

@Yoda as you can see here also I'm doing a solid hilux on front so Mitsubishi gearbox would be no good anyway

Yeah I know you're doing an SAS coversion. I was using 'you'' in the plural sense. So are the three boxes the same with subtle differences for each manufacturer? Or are they three entirely different boxes? You know kind of how the series 5 L200 is the same as the new FIAT, with differences?

Cheers for the heads up about the oil filter sandwich plate. I have one on the way now. Just another thought. Is your Lexus box a 4 or 5 speed?
Ive just noticed your box you've linked to is a A3042LE. Mine is a A3043LE. Dont know why or what the differences are but this might explain the differences you're seeing. As I infer above maybe it's subtle changes as produced for each manufacturer. I'll soon have the two boxes side by side anyway so we'll see what's what with my conversion in due course.

Here's another one for you to think about the Lexus box is a3042le and the hilux box is a a3043le box and they have differences between them hence why I changed to modding the Lexus box rather than just run the complete hilux box(I had both so expense wise it made not difference). But both the boxes are different in as far a sensors and gear selector to the Mitsubishi gearbox even with the same part number.

Hilux

Lexus

Hhhmm very interesting. This just confirms for me why I need to be using the Mitsi A3043LE box. The Spitronics ECU will take care of the electrical aspect. But the Mitsi transfer case already being on that his means I won't have to mod the back of the box like you did. So it should be the bell housing, pump and front shafts as I have read elsewhere on other Mitsi conversions. Plus my shifters are from a 3.5GDI.

And yeah it makes sense why you went the way you did with the Lexus box. Definitely if you're using the Lexus ECU you want to keep the Lexus box.

That's really good information though. Thank you.

Like you I have tow boxes. A Lexus and Mitsi one. So if Sunderland decide it's easier to just mod the back of the Lexus box then they can do that. Makes no difference to me. It's just I've never found solid proof that the same mod works for the Mitsi transfer case into the Lexus box. That's why I have both boxes. But if we did go the Lexus box route it sounds from what you're saying like I would need to find an alternative shift solution.

@Yoda sorry if I came across a bit harish with gearbox differences but you now see it's not really a black and white subject with Asisn gearbox part numbers...

Not taken that way at all bud. Info is helpful. But so far it's comfirmed what I've figured out myself. Proof will be in the pudding.
