Well as most of you know I now collect fecked fuel pumps, 3 knackered in the same amount of weeks. Now have another pump & taking no chances. I dropped the fuel tank tonight & removed the feed pipes to give access to the inside of the tank. There was a white "cream" on the bottom & about another 2 litres fuel even though we drained it till nothing came out. Strange thing was when I took some of the cream out & rubbed it between my fingers it seemed to evaporate, now diesel & veg oil wouldnt do that so I think this is some form of contamination thats caused the pumps to sieze up. But I dont think this is down to veg oil use either.

so fingers crossed truck will be running again next week.

you need to open up a case against the garage that supplied the fuel

chances are it aint just you with problems Al

As an aside, how are you finding the Yokohama's Al, rims and tyres are next on my list, although I think I've decided on the GT radials

TBH Greig I have only had them on for a couple of weeks before the truck broke down, however they did really well at Lamancha

Lee, I used some contaminated fuel from work but it must have reacted with the remains of veg oil in the tank, Smells like there was paint thinners in it but we dont know how it got in there.

new update, Re fitted the fuel tank last night after cleaning it. another 2nd hand pump fitted, replaced all the rubber fuel hoses & replaced the filter. Old filter was only fitted when I fitted Stormforces pump ( 2 weeks ago) & the inside was corroded badly so I think this confirms some contamination in the fuel.

Soooooooooo got the truck running last night but decided to leave it at work to make sure it started this morning. took a bit but did start, revved then died. took a while again to start but did however wouldt idle. sounded like fuel starvation so I checked the pipes again & found the lift pipes at the tank are now leaking( they were corroded but couldnt see any breaks or holes when they were off. I have now ordered a new one from Milners so it should be here on tuesday.

Looks like I might finaly get it fixed as its only taken 4 fuel pumps, 3 filters, new hoses, & over £100 on wasted diesel & now lift pipes.

either way the end is near

Got the new pipes fitted tonight (thanks Milners offroad) Took a bit of farting about to bleed the system but looks like all systems are go. left it at work to see if it will start in the morning & if so then it will be home tomorrow night.

fingers crossed.

If anything else is wrong then it can only be the filter head as the rest is new & the tank is clean.
