RE: Greigys truck

Well, Friday night I stripped the head off,

Saturday I stripped the waterpump & stripped the head down so I could re-grind the valves in. Stripped the sump off & got 1 & 2 pistons out, cleaned , replaced new piston rings & refitted with new big end shells.

Sunday I done pistons 3 & 4 replacing the big end shells as well. Refitted the head & cambelt. Last stud in the exhaust manifold snapped so will need to do that at work.

Monday, finished all the last bits & fired it up, started first time ..................

Fecking misfire on no 3 cylinder. Tested various things & had to remove the head again. Nothing pbvious so off with the sump again & out with no 3 piston........ the compression ring was siezed tight into the piston.

I'm going to file the piston tomorrow & see how the ring fits after that. Need to get another head gasket though. Then put it back together AGAIN.

Update. Got to my parents about 4.30pm. Sorted the sticking ring on no3 piston & refitted into block, cleaned & refitted the sump. Drilled out broken bolt for the exhaust manifold & recapped. Refitted the cylinder head & set tappers. Home with the truck at 11pm. Seemed to run ok so will see how it is on the way to work tomorrow.

Its got an oil leak at the front of the sump. Must have a small crack so going to use some instant steel on it.
