so since I have had various issues this year with the engine I made the decision to build my own. So today I took delivery of..........

a new cylinder head
4 new pistons
piston rings
all bottom end bearings
oil pump gears
4 piston liners
new crank shaft
engine gasket set
new starter motor
timing belts
8 new valves
oil filter
temp sensor

might need a couple of other bits n bobs

starting to do the bottom end this weekend using a 2nd hand block.

Well looks like the liners wont be used. 4d56 block is a solid unit, I would need to get it bored out then liners pressed in & skimmed, £400+
Im going to see what the bores on the spare block are like after honeing them.

Hi Alan, I'm very interested to see how you get on as I'm about to embark on a very similar project next week with my fooked crank shaft.

Have you ever done an engine build before?

2005 Animal - Moonshine Black with Mitsi hard top, rebuilt engine, EGR & CAT removed.

Most problems can be repaired but will the end result be worth the effort and expense?

Apologies, should have looked at your profile before asking that question (still new around here) .

Are you going to be measuring bore ovality, piston protrusion, cam lobes etc or just giving it a visual?

I will be looking for bore ovalty & piston protrusion but the cam should be ok as I have 3 to chose from lol.
