Looking to buy a really good condition mk4 2015 L200 but its red. I like the red but OH concerned about paint fade.
How badly does the paintwork fade?
Do they have clear coats as most manufacturers do?
Any recommendations on detailers in the Hampshire area that will actually do a L200?
Have been looking at ceramic coatings and now feeling a little bemused.
My plan is to get it righted now and then maintenance will be easier but this may be naieve.
Any advice much appreciated.
I owned a red over silver L200 for about 12 years
I found that the red did fade to some extent usually after washing it
I cured this by using auto glym resin polish every time after cleaning it
took a good half hour to an hour to apply each time but kept the truck looking as shiny as a shiny thing
I might add that I was not really a clean freak, so washed it every few months ....... sometimes only twice a year
brother in law bought a red car from a dealer a few years back and they coated it with some sort of stuff that stopped it fading (dont know what is was)
only thing was he had to apply this (expensive) stuff to keep the 'coating' stuff looking good
the way I saw it he may as well have applied polish every month instead
that was the best part of 10 years ago now I come to think about it so maybe coatings and compounds have changed somewhat since then
@animal is the man in the know when it comes to paining and the like and he may be able to offer some advice when he sees this post

Thankyou @krutly.
I debated and researched so much about red paint fade and care, I could bore the pants of someone for at least 5 mins.
The red one we were looking at had other issues, sadly a no goer for us.
I do like the red though..
Where about in Hampshire you from?
