RE: hot chefs 2nd truck

thinking about it Tek may have a point , a speaker wire earthing out to the body work, stereo , stereo cage , or even the other speaker wire can be enough to stop a stereo working. Quickest test is to pull the speaker wire connections off the back of the stereo and see if its still a case of ' lights on and nobody home ' ... ( sounds a bit like chef lol! )

fook knows I will test the stereo on the bench tomorrow with no speakers ect attached to see what happens it could be a short somewhere of just the Chinese stereo past it now

Hmm , I'd be worried you are going to fry something if you already have an 80 amp fuse blowing! Think you need to find what the 80 amp fuse is actually supplying, as if that supllies your ecu or other micro circuited component , think with a 100amp fuse you can kiss it goodbye!

it is the main incoming feed from alternator it supplies the whole fuse box! anyway the new alternators are mostly 90amp if 90amps are drawn it will blow a 80amp fuse

yeah but i'd still be worried something else is going to get fried. Have you checked the actual wiring? Maybe you've got a chaffed wire thats earthing out and causing the fuse to blow
