ok new Remmy alternator is on and charging fine! 4x4 light has gone out too the cap on the fooked Lucas alternator was split

I also got the Creeper joint welded on, new springs fitted and new G shackles the rear is very flexable now.

Still got the SOA conversion to do picked up some materail today for that job. But I want to see how the creeper joints perform first

Pardon? Do you need a reminder what black and red stand for? Starter or your favorite belt driven electrical part?

my stereo has been acting weird recently too. It has been turning itself off and back on again with every turn of key position. If I turned the engine off it would go off and back on, if I turned the ignition back on it would go off and back on etc etc with every position change of the key. Damn annoying as it goes through the mitsubishi start up screen each time and takes around 10 seconds to do so. I decided it was just something I was going to have to live with. However this weekend just gone I needed to take out my lower dash to find a live for my dash cam rewire and discovered someone had hacked about with my cigarette lighter wiring and done a job comparable to a blind donkey wearing boxing gloves with the wiring. I am no wiring guru but even I could do a better job so I did. I cut back the exposed wires that were twisted together with a half arsed bit of tape round them that had nigh on fallen off and crimped everything back in place. Since doing so my stereo now does what it's meant to and only turns itself off when I turn the key to off.
Does sound like you've got a dodgy connection in your system somewhere cheffy, I found mine by accident. I would say 'what have you done to the truck recently' but I suspect with all your modifications (and possibly dunking it at a big camp weekend) yours may not be simple to find. That said, if you replace the 80A fuse that keeps blowing with a nail then it wont blow. Simply check under the bonnet, outside the truck and inside the cab ........ whichever bit is now smoking or on fire is your culprit .......... no need to thank me

ooh, and wear a hi viz vest while you do this to make it completely safe

Yup, gotta love that with a user modified wiring. Although, as it blew when fannying around with the alternator, I'd think of starting there.... while wearing 10kv earthing! At least Chef has diagrams, I'm adding in a panel behind the rear seats with second fuse board inc amp for speakers, lighting etc that can be switched over to dc-dc charging system later....

I had a similar problem when I upgraded the speakers... you might want to delve into the doors and runs to check the speaker cables.. I had to splice one due to wear and tear.
