Lol, I'd like to think so, but they had a big push with some new parts and a lot more attention to Aero detail. KERS certainly makes their car quicker than those behind, and gives them the advantage that the others in front have. Essensially, with a Renault engine, RBR KERS and an RB7 gearbox, they have 3/4 of a World championship winning car. They just need to get the aero sorted really. It's totally lacking any 'pushy-downy'...

It also helped blast past Massa. Best thing I've ever seen.
Normally KERS is used at strategic points on each lap. Its the same every lap for the race, but when he came up behind Massa, we were like, "meh, use it all mate!". So he did, 85% in one go! Seeee yaaaaa!!

Haha love it! Mind you they may have RBR KERS but RBR won pretty much without that last year!

Tell me about it. First half of the season nearly killed me. I was Vettels car Sparky, and had to deal with rebuilding our shyte MK1 batteries at every given opportunity! Later on in the season it was much better.
But anyway, wayyyyyyy Off Topic now, I do apologise.

No no yet. Got that done today because I can't weld myself. I'm away this weekend but I'm hoping to spend a weekend on the truck next weekend fitting the WI and the gauge.
Basil... when you read this have you any idea what route your guys took to get the probe cable into the cab? Obviously got to have enough length to reach the binnacle.

Rain has prevented me from getting started on the WI. At least this is done though. Been out for a drive. Round town temps are around 200 - 300. Accelerating up to motorway speeds it went as high as 650 in 4th at 3000 rpm but once settled down at cruising speed (70mph in 5th) it came back down to 500. Went up a few hills and in 3rd /4th and it read 400 -550. Sat still, and as soon as you back off the throttle the temps plummet to 200 which is as low as it reads. No weight in my big water tank for this test and it was 15degrees outside.
As I am able to open the throttle up more with the new engine I will keep updating information. I did read on one explanation of EGT's that when under load it will run cooler shifting down and being allowed to rev than getting bogged down. I tested this a bit on the hills and it seemed to be true but I will keep observing this.
I would have to say that this is one of, if not THE best mod I have made. The peace of mind from knowing you have a REAL indication of engine temps, and hence learning how to drive accordingly is priceless. I would fully recommend everyone with a classic do this mod even if you don't plan on doing anything else. I can only begin to imagine how many trucks could have been saved from overheating if the driver had one of these fitted. Through the range of temps displayed the coolant temp gauge doesn't move on iota. I can't wait to get the WI fitted to see how the EGT's are effected.

Will do mate. I have now filled the main tank with diesel after having done 600 miles on the Aux tank. So the 10 litres of veg in there will be safe on the new engine. It still uses the aux tank to start up and shut down though which does make mpg calculations tricky. Need to work that one out....

Yes we agree Lez. What we're talking about is the coolest way to run the engine when it is under load. That being to drop down and let it rev. If you bog down it gets hotter. This would back up what you say. I think we're on the same page, just got cross wired?
