fucking fed up now, sorry for swearing but Im at my end with this.
Set up the timing of Fri & truck drove ok half way home then developed a hesitation. Sat it was a bugger to start & same sunday, got the correct fuel clips on sunday but they didnt fix it. went in to work at 6am to get 2hrs on it before starting work. Rechecked the timing & gave it a wee tweek. road test it pulled better but still a hesitation. 4 pm it was a bugger to start again. Me & one of the guys at the work stripped it & double checked the timming, all ok. rebuilt & blead the system, ran great. Got home & after 45 mins had to take Louise out & it was a shit to start again. low on power & generaly running crap.
cant be fuel filter & that & the fiter head are new, cant be uel lines as they are all new. no apparent leaks from the fuel pump.
Could it be that when I have loosened the injector pipes they movement may have slackened of the leak back pipes & its drawing air ??
I have no idea what else to try. there are no diagnostics on this year of truck to give me any indication on the fault either.
However the injector side of things are the only bit I havent done anything to but when I blead the system it starts fine.

Can you rig up a temporary tank to run it from with some clear fuel pipe or replace a section under the bonnet with clear??

If it helps I had the same issue had it in at the garage timing checked by mits and an l200 specialist they ended up advancing the pump saying most likely just wear and tear inside. Been running fine since

When you say re bleed system where are you having to start from al ie fuel filter primer to get air out
Sounds like one of your injector pipes leaking in air if it was a washer it would have a slight tick to it
Won't be timing or you wouldn't have to re bleed
I would look at fuel pump side for the leak on pipes

Leak back pipe won't draw in air if one way valve on it?
Unless seal washer on banjo is crimped
Just guessing these are the type of fittings with copper washers on these trucks or am I wrong lol
Last time I messed with a banjo it had copper washers and a braided covered rubber pipe

Jeez, didnt realise it had been so long since I posted in this lol.
well since march I have
Flushed an oil cleaner & changed oil & filter
Replaced the fuel return rail
Replaced all the injectors
Replaced all alternator & power steering belts
Replaced the clutch
Replaced the front lower suspension arm bushes ( wont do that again lol )
Timed up the fuel pump x2
Fitted a new alternator
Replaced the oil in the viscous cooling fan
Replaced the coolant temp sensor
Fitted an air horn.
Replaced the steering box
Replaced the offside front shock absorber
Replaced all cv boots
Replaced both top ball joints
things got interesting at the begining of this week as I developed a knocking sound from the engine. Decided to strip the front end of the engine last night so got a new cambelt ( might as well do it while I was in there) I went to remove the front crank pulley bolt & found it loose ( It hasnt been touched in 4 years since the belts were last done). I think the pulley is a bit worn but the crank seems to be ok. Im gonna see how it goes over the next couple of months ( keep checking the bolt ) Anyway while I had it stripped down I replaced the front crank seal & oil pump drive as the old drive had a score in it.
Also replaced the nearside headlamp bulb that blew on thurs night & replaced the offside headlamp bulb plug that was corroded as mud had got into it causing the light to go on & off whenever it wanted.
Oh & washed it 3 times.
And all this done when I didnt have members trucks to work on

Thanks George. I thought the engine was on its last legs but sounds ok just now. might do the tappets as they havent been done for a few years. But apart from being a bit smokey when putting power down but that might be down to the rape seed oil Im using the truck is going ok. 13 years old with 139k
