That's like the one question I couldn't find an answer to. You just need to put two side by side and see. But there ARE manual L200's I've found with 1UZ V8's. So it can be done.

Yeah the downside of the manual is the ratios. It's built for a weak diesel that needs to rev to get power. A V8 doesn't need that. I would think if you went manual you would want to fit an overdrive, which gets costly. So unless youn dearly must stay manual, go auto. Or, change your final drive.....

Has anyone ever run the 1uz-fe with out the ecu. Is there a conversion to run it off a distributer?? Or is that a no no and a stupid suggestion.
Apparently you can put a supercharger on that engine 2.

Yep there's a super charger kit for it. Good for 450bhp on standard internals. After that you need forged rods, and Pistons etc. Then the sky is the limit. I've seen both centric and twin screw super chargers fitted.

Honest answer is I don't know if it can be run without clever electrioncs. No one I've found has done so. And that's not just Mitsis. That's all vehicles it goes into. The place to ask is www.lextreme.com. This engine literally get put into everything.

they aint that weak and the engine is the same in the manual and the auto the auto just lives longer due to the gearing i reakon

A 4bbl Holley, a Ford EDIS8 ignition, 4-6 wires to hookup, and you'll have a running engine.

RE: Yoda's build project.

Sorted out an engine today. Engine, box and ancillaries etc etc. £510 delivered on a palet. I won't even see it until it's in the truck. Not sure what year mine is from yet, other than its pre '97. It's done 126,000. So basically just about run in for these engines. From all the legwork I'm doing it seems to me these engines are becoming more and more popular for conversions and kit cars in this country. The guy I'm buying from says he has no problems selling them. There's definitely a small community building around the 1UZ. My guess is they will start to creep up in price over the next few years.

It seems finding a belt, tensioner and water pump kit is difficult though. Outside of Lexus dealerships they don't seem to exist in this country. Guys on the LOC seem to order from the U.S. But apparently it's 60,000 or 5 years between changes so that's good.

You're not going very far with your legwork then, belt kits and waterpumps can be bought from Eurocarparts.

I called Euro car parts today and they said they don't stock it Vince. I'm waiting on call back from Total Motor factors tomorrow. Online search yeilded only foreign sellers. I would like to know about your valley super charger bracket though @Bushwhacker. Was that a fabrication of your own?

The engine is from a UK car that was broken down Chef. Other than that it specifically is coming from Bournemouth. Was that what you wanted?

I definitely did consider seriously the Japanese import market for one. But it would cost me £1055. Granted I would have been on an engine with 40,000 less miles but in these engines that's no enough to sway it. Yet it's still high enough to warrant doing the belt etc given that from what I've found the first timing belt change is 90k. So all in I'm saving £500 the way I've gone.

The good news on my part is that my best mate has done all his own mapping on his 600bhp LS1 equipped Holden. ECU's differ but principles still apply. So I'll have a mentor to assist with the process. To get the best from an engine it wants mapping every time you change something. So the after market ECU is definitely a nice little bonus.

Yes exactly. I tow often and haul weight. You can even have different maps stored to change at the flip of a switch for different needs.
