Wales. His pictures speak for themselves. I am a big fan of his work. When I couldn't get hold of Vince it was only by chance that I found Sunderland4x4. I originally phoned West Coast off-road who weren't interested but said that Sunderland probably would be.

It's Mr B that has done all the Hilux conversions. Lots of them!

Veg no. Strictly for diesels. I will LPG the V8 in time. My veg conversion will be up for sale. As will anything else anyone needs. Except the engine, I wouldn't make someone pay for that heap of cow poo.

Indeedy. Did I miss that bit off?😁 I agree wholeheardlty with Maliman. If there was a diesel V8 that made as much sense as the 1UZ, I would have done that instead. I'm a huge fan of big power diesels. But beggars can't be choosers. A diesel V8 would have been a bigger project with more unknowns.

The only thing funnier than watching an L200 smoke a rice rocket, would be watching a diesel L200 smoke a rice rocket.

It smokes like hell, uses oil and blowes the dipstick out. I'll probably strip it down and see what's what. If it does have worn rings then at least the rest is saleable. So I guess yes. Spares. Once I establish what's worth saving.

Fair comments. Not trying to argue. Just trying to do all my due diligence. I wasn't aware you had used the Lexus box. I was under the impression that you had done the swaps using the Hilux bell housing conversion kits. And if I might be so bold, I'm still lacking proof that the Lexus box will take the Mitsi transfer case. I've always been one to cover my arse.

I totally agree mate, forewarned is forearmed as the saying goes.

All my conversions uses the standard 1UZ bellhousing with the Lexus auto 'box and the Toyota transfercase bolted on the back.
The transfer cases are in two parts, there's the actual t/case unit plus the adapter housing to mate it to the gearbox. It's the adapter housing that is the important part of the assembly as it has the proper bolt pattern.
The Mitsi auto 'boxes are Toyota units, (AISIN) so I can't see any problems bolting the Mitsi T/case to the back of the Lexus auto.
If you're going from manual to auto, you'll need to use the Mitsi auto's front and rear propshafts I would have thought as they're shorter than the manual ones.

If you wanted to stay manual, then a custom bellhousing or adapter plate will be needed to go between the gearbox and V8, plus a suitable clutch assembly and release bearing etc but that can add at least another £800 to the cost of the conversion.

I'm on Facebook these days, 'Vince Lexurf' add me as a friend and you'll be able to see all my converion photos.

Keep on truckin'!

Yep. No problems there. Injection pump was rebuilt by Powerdrive earlier this year. All ancilleries function as they should. Gearbox is great.

Auto for me Tiptronic is the best of both worlds imho. Thanks for the tip. I'll pass it to James. I'm genuinely a little saddened that you aren't doing it. But at the same time I was raised to not back out of a fixed arrangement. So I don't have it within myself to do so.

Yep I came across the input / output shaft issue elsewhere.

Just having a thought here. How much would you charge me to paint up a set of rocker covers and an intake in your usual style?

Hard to say mate, there's a lot of polishing involved before they're coloured. Thought about Hydrodipping? See some done in carbon and they looked wicked!

Nah. I know exactly what I want. Same colour as my truck. RAL2004 but in gloss for the engine. No panic if it's too much trouble. I'll get to it myself in time.

Sure is. It's called "pure orange" on the RAL chart. Obviously the truck was Raptor so for the engine I would mix it gloss.

No it's not Stormforce's.

Spitronics have moved on with their ECUs now, I think the latest one is the Murcury? I have two ECUs (Venus) for the VVTi V8, one to control ignition (spark control) and the other controls the fuelling.

The last Spitronics ECU/TCU/1UZ truck I did was a bit of an animal, easily spin the rear wheels on a dry roads. I programmed two shift patterns into the TCU, one for normal driving the other for acceleration.

Not sure how I stumbled onto this thread; but I have a serious case of engine envy now!
