how dow the 2uz lumps compare

Like they'd bee a bit bigger lumps and more expensive. There would not be enough engine bay clearance to get anything bigger in there without major cutting on the arches.

I read one post where people suggested that the 2UZ can't take the boost levels that a 1UZ can. Vince will confirm this but the 1UZ has a 6 bolt casing? Plus the ally heads and block expand at the same rate. Trying to build an engine to be "more reliable" than a 1UZ is an oxymoron. The 2UZ only has 2 bolts I've read. Vince can correct me if I'm wrong.

A cast block and alloy head being to different metals with different temperature expansion rates would create a bigger chance of head casket trouble I would imagine as well as double the weight on the front.

The 2UZ was originally designed for it's reliabilty and durability and why it was used in big SUVs and 4X4s, a low revving high torque motor. TRD made an of-the-shelf supercharger kit for them with no other modifications required to the block/heads.

Sounds good man. Most likely will be the new year before I get it back given that the build will bridge the Christmas break.

Just been getting very carried away looking at tuning parts for the 1UZ. There's a lot more out there than I realised.

http://www.xatracing.com/lexus1uz.html

http://www.bulletcars.com/parts/engine-p...gine-parts.html

Fancy myself some high lift cams, high flow headers and a super charger at some point down the line. And that's only a mild tune. XATracing talk about building them to 1000bhp at the wheels! When it comes to it I'll do the research and tune it for low end torque.

On the train home now after dropping off my truck to Sunderland4x4. All went well. Nice guys to deal with. They're very positive about the whole project and quite excited to get started on it. Looks like I found the right guys to get this done for me:

This Wrangler is in process of having a Hemi fitted.

He's going to whatsapp picture updates for me to post up here. My engine is all a bit dirty right now. But it's all serviced and new belts and water pump ready to go in. They're also going to get my bumper galvanised and repainted, and fit my light bar for me.

Are you using the LS400 auto box? What is their estimated completion time?

No. We're using a gearbox from a Pajero 3.5 GDI. It's the same as the Lexus box. They are both Aisin A340 series boxes. I've never found evidence that the Lexus box can be modded to take the Mitsi transfer case. So we are taking the tried, tested and proven conversion route for Mitsi's and putting the Lexus bell housing, torque converter, pump and input shafts onto the Pajero box. Which of course, already has a Mitsi transfer case on it.

Estimated completion time is 2-3 weeks. I am the first so naturally expect that might change. At the very least it will be delayed due to Christmas. Once they've done mine they'll know their way around the project for any future interest. But seeing the sort of stuff they take on, I'm hoping their estimation is realistic.

I'm speaking to a local valeting firm tomorrow about doing the full works on my engine. I need the truck back as soon as is realistic so I can't really justify asking Sunderland to clean it up for me. And having come out of an 18year old vehicle there is plenty of grease, grime and road dirt on it. So I'm looking at having the engine spruced up to a nice factory looking clean state once I've got the truck back. Then after that I can do the engine dress up myself. Painted covers, intake, coloured hoses, shiny bolts etc.
