Thanks guys, very kind of you. I'm now in the process of downloading the galaxy user interface for the ECU and TCU so that I can learn to map it myself. James is going to give me a once over of what can be done and how; and my mate who is a wizard with computers is coming along so that he can help me. He's been mapping his own Holden for years so understands the process. Then I can set about having an economy map, a power map and a middle one. I've also got to load a map for tiptronic and tell it what I want the gearbox to do and when. Then every time I make a mod, like headers and exhaust, I can adjust the map myself rather than paying someone.

Some photos I took yesterday of things you haven't seen yet. He put it on the ramp so I could see the underside.
Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
Fuel filter and fuel pump sitting on the near side chassis rail. This pump is seriously loud. The engine is surprisingly quiet on tick over and currently has no exhaust note due to a single exhaust and two silencers. So when you start it up I kid you not all you can hear is this pump!

Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
The mahoosive and very shiney rear prop shaft. This one came from a Delica. Certainly not going to have drivetrain weakness issues anywhere but the rear diff, if I do.

The autobox. This thing is huge compared to the manual. And you can see the splice on the exhaust

A close up shot of the framework supporting the radiator. An unexpected bonus of this is that it got rid of the nasty radiator cross member that always rusts on classics.

How does it feel to have power under your foot? Must feel strange in a L200

I'll do a video later today mate. That will give you an idea. My friend drove me up there in his 600bhp Holden. He's got over twice the horsepower I have so there's no chance of beating him. But, to give you an idea of what the L200 is now like; on the way home at one point I put my foot down on a slip road and caught him napping. Once he realised, he said he HAD to drop down a gear to stay with me.

Where it's most impressive is 60 - 80. Got up to 85 and cruised most of the time at 80. Wasn't even trying. Never slows down up hill, you just squeeze the throttle. If you can see you're about to get boxed in and stuck behind a truck, you can get out of there without cutting up the oncoming car and never have to worry about having enough power to actually pass the vehicle in front.

Maybe been brought up before but the thread starting to be a bit long so I just ask, what will, happen at the mot station when they see it? Can you register it with the swap some how? In Sweden this would be almost impossible.

Yeah it's not a big problem. The truck has been re-registered with VOSA as a petrol and automatic. Engine size etc. The MOT then just checks the safety of the vehicle in the same manner they would for any other car. So they will check things like engine mounts and gearbox mounts and props shafts to make sure they are safe.

What do you have to do with emissions. Do you have to pass the same test as the car the engine was in. Do you need full cats.
Wats the tax now??

RE: Yoda's build project.

Emissions is a funny one. I did put the answer on that thread about whether I needed cats. Basically when you do an engine swap they test in whatever is oldest, engine or vehicle. So my emissions will be tested for the engine. BUT, and here's the critical point; it's a non-CAT test. Again engine swaps are categorised by passenger or goods vehicles. A passenger vehicle of the same age with the same swap requires a CAT. A goods vehicle does not. And buy the government's own website the L200 is a goods vehicle. I've spoken to a lot of people about this. So far I cannot find anyone who can prove otherwise. MOT man, And VOSA both agree with me on this.

Tax; not quite so sure. You re-register the vehicle for sure. Which I've done. Then as far as I can make out they inform you if the tax bracket is different.
