Ok so we are basically really close. He's putting in an electric fan as the viscous fan was too big. Light bar needs to go on and bumper needs painting. There's some gearbox wiring to finish. Before he can finish the gearbox wiring though he needs to load the maps onto the ECU. Which is where we've hit a hurdle. The maps won't load. He's been onto Race Systems and now the problem as been referred to Spitronics themselves in South Africa. This is what going to determine when I get it back.

Looks like we're finally getting some answers to the ECU issue. The package came with firmware in it for a Mercury (one) ECU. But my ECU is a Mercury 2. It won't run with this firmware. James now has to download the correct firmware from Spitronics' website tonight which we're being told can be overwritten easily enough. All being well if that's all there is to it he will have it running tomorrow.

Only other thing left is the bumper which still hasn't returned from galvanising.

So very touch and go if I get it this weekend or next. My bet is next weekend because that's just how things go.

I want to say all credit to James he has slaved hard over this one. Including using his evenings trying to solve the problem.

Sure am mate. But I'm patient. And I understand how projects like this go. But all the better for anyone who follows in my footsteps. They will have an easier time of things for sure.

Yes. My old K&N was a bit old and tatty now. And it was far too restrictive for a big V8 so James just put that filter on for now. I'll have to get some pipe and a new cone filter to plum into the snorkel later. It will be the first thing I do.

So guess what. Now they're having firmware issues trying to program the transmission.

I'm the mean time, here's a lovely picture of my relocated radiator and twin fans.

I've been having a good look at this conversion recently. I like the intake manifold you showed me and I've been looking into the Holley carb terminator self learning efi. Simple plug and play learning carb. Works with the supercharger 2.

Oh really? That sounds pretty epic actually. So, how does it work? You electronically control a carb?
